Modern Slavery Statement

Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Introduction from the CEO

We are committed to combating slavery and human trafficking across our business and supply chains. Exploitation in any form has no place in our operations, and we expect the same high standards from everyone we work with. Our commitment to promoting equality and transparency within our workforce ensures that concerns can be raised without fear of recrimination.

Organisation's Structure, Business, and Supply Chains

Paramount Medical Solutions is a provider of protective clothing and specialist surgical consumables in the healthcare sector. We are headquartered in Kent, UK, and operate with 5 employees. Our supply chains include surgical materials, plastics, tubing, and packaging sourced from the UK, Europe, Turkey, China, and India. Our annual turnover is £1,800,000, and we distribute products across Europe.

We maintain close relationships with long-term suppliers while also onboarding new partners as needed. All suppliers must meet our stringent ethical and operational standards to be part of our supply chain.

Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy outlines our commitment to operating with integrity in all business dealings. This policy applies to both our business and our supply chains and is reviewed annually to ensure ongoing relevance and compliance with current laws. We also have a Code of Conduct in place for our suppliers, which is supported by an audit document to assess adherence to our anti-slavery standards. The Code covers key areas such as labour rights, working conditions, and compliance with all anti-slavery legislation.

Due Diligence Processes

We have developed a comprehensive due diligence process to identify and mitigate risks of modern slavery within our supply chains. This includes a due diligence questionnaire that all key suppliers must complete, alongside vetting procedures for new suppliers. Our approach is proactive, with regular monitoring of potential risk areas and adherence to a robust supplier compliance program.

We employ a combination of audits, ongoing dialogue, and third-party tools, such as resources from the Global Slavery Index, to assess and address risks. Suppliers in regions identified as higher risk, including China, Turkey, and India, undergo enhanced scrutiny.

Risk Areas and Management

We recognize that some parts of our supply chain, particularly those operating in China, Turkey, and India, pose a higher risk of modern slavery. To address these risks, we have implemented the following steps:

  • Conducting enhanced vetting and audits for suppliers in higher-risk regions.

  • Mapping our supply chain to identify and prioritize risk areas.

  • Implementing a permit-to-work system and code of conduct compliance measures for all suppliers.

Moving forward, we plan to expand our vetting and auditing processes across all tiers of suppliers, ensuring that our efforts reach deeper into the supply chain.

Effectiveness and KPIs

We measure the effectiveness of our anti-slavery efforts using the following KPIs:

  • Supplier vetting procedures: 100% compliance for all new major suppliers.

  • Supplier screening: In 2024, we will extend our screening process to cover all major suppliers.

  • Supply chain mapping: We have identified China, Turkey, and India as higher-risk regions and will focus our audits in these areas.

  • Whistleblowing policy: No reports have been raised, and we continue to encourage staff and suppliers to report any concerns.

  • Training: All staff have completed anti-slavery training, and we are committed to keeping this program up to date.

Training and Capacity Building

Training on modern slavery is a core part of our employee development program. All employees are required to complete training as part of their onboarding process, with refresher sessions provided annually. We also encourage our suppliers to provide training to their own staff to ensure a broader understanding of the risks and signs of modern slavery.

Future Steps

In 2024, we will:

  • Roll out vetting procedures to all significant suppliers.

  • Conduct an on-site inspection of a major supplier in China, Turkey, or India.

  • Extend our questionnaire and vetting processes to tier-2 suppliers in higher-risk regions.

This statement, made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, constitutes our anti-slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending December 31, 2024. It has been approved by the board of directors and will be reviewed and updated annually.
